Elizabeth Morton went by the name of Elizabeth Wood as she was raised by James Wood and his wife Mary Isabelle Swetnam, (possibly her grandparents). Her birth facts were taken from her birth certificate which was obtained from Vital Statistics of New Brunswick, and the facts of her first marriage to Laurent Doucet is from Univ. of Moncton Archives. Her obituary read: Mrs. Hurley (Elizabeth) Hetherington, died July 22, 1970, in a Belfast Hospital. She was born at Moncton, N.B., Feb. 11, 1902, the daughter of James and Mary Wood. She lived in the United States about 40 years, and in Northport, Maine, 24 years. Surviving are her husband, Hurley V. Hetherington of Northport; one son, Delbert Small of Northport; three daughters, Mrs. Laurine (Doucet) Morin of Berlin, N.H.; Mrs. Nellie (Doucet) Cyr of Augusta, and Mrs. Doris (Butler) Plourde of Lowell, Mass.; two brothers, Robert Wood of Campbellton, N.B., and Guy Wood of Kent Jct., N.B.; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Whalen of Halifax, N.S., and Mrs. Nellie Woodworth of Campbellton, N.B.; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rackliffe Funeral Home, Belfast, with the Rev. Thomas F. Coyne officiating. Burial will be in the East Northport Cemetery. |
